Marnie Hartmann remained a force of nature even in retirement: leading community service projects at her church, taking classes on topics ranging from Shakespeare and the Supreme Court at the UC Berkeley Extension, and making time for each of her eight grandkids. Marnie was always a trailblazer: graduating from Stanford as one of the first female chemistry majors, enjoying a long, successful career as a scientist, including a stint at NASA, and becoming the heart and soul of an extensive family network.
